About Me
I'm here in Portland, with my two sons. And I'm super passionate about human equity, pop culture, yoga, humane technology, behavioral economics, and slow bike commuting. I write a newsletter. I meditate. A lot. Through that practice, I've come to feel deeply connected to and compassionate toward humankind. I bring this big love to all that I do, and most especially to my work.
My Approach
Human beings are really good at using language to confuse and “complexify.” I’m all about designing language in service to equity and understanding.
Aristotle’s triangle helps me with that. It brings together all the "things" (context, purpose, audience) to surface the right strategic approach. It’s simple and crisp, but also messy and human- reminding me to be plain, intentional, and humane.
Techne (the site name) is a Greek idea. It’s productive knowledge, the type of knowledge that sits between practical and theoretical. Techne is the sort of knowing that makes stuff (ships, buildings, or, in this case, digital communications campaigns) come into being. And because the end goal is human good, it always supports and/or is supported by a user experience lens.
